OUKAIMEDEN ROCKS

22-28 April 2023

In the Moroccan Atlas Mountains at an altitude of 2700 meters, far from busy Marrakech, lies the serene Berber village of Oukaimeden, surrounded by countless red sandstone boulders. In recent years, more than 800 routes have been opened here, but that is only a fraction of the area. These beautiful boulders in the unspoiled nature offer endless options to challenge yourself at any level. Discovered and mapped by our partner Imik’Simik, well-known and beloved within the boulder community for his pioneering work here.

What makes bouldering in Oukaimeden so special is the extraordinary, distinctive setting. Here, the original inhabitants, the Berbers, live a traditional life. The mountains are home to many shepherds and sheep. You climb surrounded by breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas. It is also therefore a perfect place to relax and recharge. A bouldering trip to Morocco is, for us, not just about climbing. It is also an adventure and an introduction to a beautiful, hospitable culture. Sipping mint tea, taking everything in, it is difficult not to be charmed by this place.

We are going to Morocco for a week to experience the best of Oukaimeden. And you can come with us. Of course, we will be bouldering hard and a lot on the Oukaimeden rocks. In the delightful Moroccan sun and in the evening darkness. We will guide you through the climbing areas and solemnly promise to take you to the most fun areas and projects. Whether you are an experienced outdoor climber or a beginner who wants to try bouldering, there is something for everyone. Equipped with crash pads, climbing shoes, chalk, topos, good company, and our own boulder coaches, we will make a basecamp among the boulders and help you navigate the rocks. We will also teach you all about spotting, the do's and don'ts in Morocco, and the sustainable use of nature. We will take care of everything, you just do one thing: climb. On the rest days, we will take time for a beautiful hike through the mountains of the Atlas and spend the night in a typical Berber village among the houses of clay that seem to grow out of the rolling landscape. We will end our trip with our own mini boulder festival. Think of a fun boulder circuit accompanied by Moroccan music, slacklining, and of course, a lot of tajines!
